Joshua Bastian Cole-Kurz ’22 to Join English Faculty at Quinnipiac University

Joshua Bastian Cole-Kurz ’22 will be joining the faculty in the Department of English at Quinnipiac University this coming fall, teaching first-year writing.

Of this new role, Cole said: “I would like to thank Cornell's Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines for their significant support, particularly David Faulkner, Tracy Hamler Carrick, and Kate Navickas, who have been amazing mentors and strong advocates for me as a teacher. Additionally, Cornell's Center for Teaching Innovation, Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Center for Teaching and Learning, and my supervisors and faculty mentors from HWS in 2023 have been instrumental in my development. With the support of these resources and mentors, I was able to enhance my First-Year Writing Seminars, successfully producing outstanding first-year writing and building student confidence.”

“Like Cornell, Quinnipiac has a Writing in the Disciplines (WID) focus, promoting interdisciplinarity—a key aspect of my scholarly identity. At Quinnipiac, all First-Year Seminar (FYS) faculty design courses based on their expertise and experience to introduce recent high school graduates to the excitement and challenges of undergraduate education. Together, we will explore the complexity and importance of various problems, questions, or ideas.”
